CUlture crew... taking care of our environment
As we learned about making Lovett a more sustainable community, we found out that although we have the means to compost in the Lower School, many classes were not participating as much as they could. Culture Crew has committed to helping in this effort. The Crew helps by turning the compost bins periodically, but the compost comes from students!
Kindergarten and 1st grade are following 2nd-5th's efforts to kick off the year of compost. They have their charts, directions and bags and are ready to go! I can't wait to see who wins THIS challenge! |
below are the 3 easy steps for composting!

Jerry craft: visiting Feb. 12!The Culture Crew is super excited to host Jerry Craft in the Lower School.
He uses the power of words and art to demonstrate actions of cooperation, anti-bullying, kindness and leadership. We are very excited about Mr. Craft’s visit, as he will be with us all day! He will speak to all of the students in Chapel, then hold a special gathering for fifth graders, and then will lead lessons in all fourth grade art classes! |
Culture crew and the atlanta braves:
Strike out bullying!!
We had a BALL at the Anti Defamation League's rally at Turner Field! Brian Jordan told us all about his new book, and we were even on TV! What a blast.
Thank you all for coming, Crew friends and parents!

Now THIS is the kind of thing we like to see!! --> Watch what these students in Texas did to recognize beauty, inside and out. Grab a kleenex, too. |

Culture Crew to started back up in September! We've come a loooong way! During our first meeting, we talked about our school culture. What is it? What do we want Lovett's culture to be? Everyone had an opinion... and posted it.
This assembly was AMAZING!! Thank you for participating!! Watch Charlie and Jack's video here!----> |
Some clips of our DON'T WAIT, SPEAK UP! campaign. Remember these from our earlier assemblies?
Mrs. Fonseca went to the HRC store in Washington D.C.! HRC stands for Human Rights Campaign. Human Rights means exactly that: the same rights for all human beings, period. The campaign sets out to create more inclusive communities, in large and small ways. Doesn't this sound like what we do in Culture Crew? I totally thought about you guys!!
We celebrated the success of our ABRIGO project!!
We brought in so many coats! The Upper School students are looking forward to taking them to El Centro Católico. We, in CC, celebrated with POPCORN! We also pondered the skit we did (at the assembly) on bullying, and other ways we can show how to take care of our school culture. After all, our school community has a culture to be looked after and preserved.
We start here.
Some FAQs about Culture Crew:
- Culture crew meetings will be every so often. They will not be every Friday. Frequency will depend on interest level and cooperation of those involved.
- Attendance does not have to be consistent from one Crew meeting to another. Students must, however, present a Crew "slip" to your homeroom teacher on the Friday morning of the meeting in order to attend. The slip is available to print by pressing the button above: "Crew Slip"
No slip = no attendance
- We will meet from 3:00-3:40 in room 243. It is important that parents come for pickup in the Lower School circle by 3:40. We will be outside at that time. Children who are not picked up by 3:50 will go to the After School Activities Program, and parents will be charged accordingly.
